City of Utica
Historically, Utica has always been the heart of western Macomb County. As a small city, dating from 1817, we take great pride in our heritage but rejoice in our thriving businesses, respected churches and outstanding City services. The historic business district has taken on a new and vibrant look. Our streets are newly resurfaced, widened and better lit.
With the advantage of M59 and M53, Utica offers great shopping, great hotels and a wonderful variety of restaurants. Our schools, parochial and private are some of the best in the area: Trinity Lutheran, St. Lawrence and both Utica Community Schools, Flickinger Elementary and Eppler Junior High. In the future, our City Council and Planning Commission plans on updating the Master Land Use Plan as well as our Zoning Ordinance. With partners like the Sterling Heights Area Chamber of Commerce, neighbors such as the Charter Township of Shelby and the City of Sterling Heights and a supportive Macomb County government, how could any city not be excited about what lies ahead? The City of Utica cherishes its treasured past and looks forward to a challenging future.
