Activities for All
Residents of the three communities have the benefit of some of the best recreational facilities in the state. The City of Sterling Heights has seven major parks that feature athletic fields, playground equipment, picnic areas and plenty of other outdoor attractions. Also located in the city is Freedom Hill Macomb County Park that, besides its professional outdoor music theater, is host to a wide range of ethnic festivals and other events.
Shelby Township has over 1250 acres of park land with River Bend and Hollands Parks being the largest. Each park varies in their features from assorted playground equipment, picnic areas, playfields, ball diamonds, soccer fields and more. There is even a skeet and archery range at Shadbush Park. For those who like to bike, jog or hike there is a paved trail that runs through each community. For nature lovers the Sterling Heights Nature Center and the Shadbush Nature Center in Shelby is the perfect place to learn about and interact with nature. The centers offer films, lectures, tours and classes. In addition, all three communities boast a multitude of neighborhood parks that offer residents plenty of quality recreational time.
