Our community is rich with arts and entertainment. We are home to the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra. Under the direction of Conductor Robert Vodnoy, the symphony presents a host of classical and pops concerts on the Mendel Mainstage and summer concerts at the Shadowland Pavilion at Silver Beach.

Plan to be entertained all season long as you experience the magic of the Mendel Mainstage. Performances range from the New York City Opera to the likes of Bill Cosby, Mandy Patinkin, the Beach Boys or the Count Basie Orchestra. From Camelot to Stomp, the Broadway performances are outstanding. The world class theater seats more than 1,500 and is often times sold out to the rafters!

Visit the Krasl Art Center and take a SculpTour of nearly two dozen outdoor sculptures wonderfully scattered throughout the area, delighting residents and visitors. The Krasl is a jewel among art exhibition tours. In addition to traveling collections, the center offers lectures and art classes for those thirsty for knowledge. Mark July on your calendar; the Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff is the perfect place to discover that special oil painting, jewelry design, mounted photography or sculpture among the artists’ wares. If you can’t wait ‘til then, the area boasts nearly a dozen galleries open year round.graphic

Thanks to the Community Renewal Through the Arts program, a thriving arts community is emerging in Benton Harbor. Since its inception, the program has proven the revitalizing power of the arts downtown and revived community spirit. Other cultural opportunities include museums detailing the area’s architectural and lifestyle heritage, sponsored by a variety of historical societies. Children clamor to the Curious Kids’ Museum in St. Joseph, where they learn science and more through play. The Body Works medical station, Kids Port sailing adventure (complete with code flags and meal preparation in the galley), and the WKID broadcasting station continue to delight young residents and visitors alike.
