History of the Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber was founded in 1881. The Chamber has undergone five name changes over that period, and has been a countywide Chamber of Commerce for over 25 years.

Previous names for the organization included the Albert Lea Board of Trade (1879–1892), the Albert Lea Commercial Club (1892–1907), the Albert Lea Men’s Club (1907–1930), the Albert Lea Chamber of Commerce (1930–1980), and the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce, now representing business and professionals throughout the County.

One thing has never changed—the Chamber’s never ending mission; “To promote and develop a healthy and positive business climate and improve the quality of life in the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Area.”
