Our community has abundant natural and historic areas that have been developed into over 300 acres of quality parks, recreation areas, and open space.

All of the city’s parks are open to the public free of charge.

Throughout Albert Lea, over 40 parks and recreation areas offer a wide variety of recreational and leisure facilities, including neighborhood park playfields, playground equipment, basketball courts, tennis courts, fishing areas, natural open spaces, picnic areas, softball and baseball diamonds, a swimming pool, the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center, a senior center, and an ice arena.

The Albert Lea Parks and Recreation Department also offers a variety of rental facilities for your wedding, reunion, or get-together including the gazebo on North Broadway, the cottage and pavilion at Edgewater Park, a pavilion at Pioneer Park, the Senior Citizen’s Center in the Skyline Plaza, the Aquatic Center, and the City Arena, which includes four party rooms. Call the Parks and Recreation Department at 507-377-4370 to make your reservations.

Other areas of special interest include the Albert Lea Audubon Nature and Wildlife Preserve, Freeborn County Historical Museum and Pioneer Village, Big Island Rendezvous, Myre-Big Island State Park, and the Pelican Breeze II Boat Tour on Albert Lea Lake.
