The evolution of Chanhassen from a small outpost to a thriving metropolitan suburb has been startling, but the main reason people live and move here has been and always will be the people who call Chanhassen home. As word has spread that Chanhassen is a great place to work, live and play, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of housing units being built over the past few years. Since 1980, Chanhassens population has been growing, steadily adding on average 700 new residents annually. With this new growth, a pleasant mix of older and newer housing styles has emerged to provide numerous options for people wishing to locate here. Older homes are predominately single family, detached homes, while the newer subdivisions feature more modern styles. One of the most rapidly growing developments throughout the metro area is the increase in attached townhomes and duplexes. These new styles are bringing people back to traditional neighborhoods and providing residents increased interaction with their neighbors. Chanhassen will continue to be primarily a single-family household community, with building permits for housing construction continuously on the rise. But if you are looking for rental units, Chanhassen has plenty to offer as well. Several apartment complexes have recently been constructed, adding to the rental opportunities already available. So if you are looking to build a new home, purchase an existing house, or rent a townhome or apartment, there are plenty of options available for you in Chanhassen.
