The quality and number of recreational facilities in a community directly contributes to its quality of life! For this reason, the City of Chanhassen places a strong emphasis on parks, open space, trails and recreation.
Currently, there are 34 public parks and open spaces totaling more than 600 acres within the city limits. Carver County also operates the 350-acre Minnewashta Regional Park, located in western Chanhassen. All in all, most homes in Chanhassen can find a park within a mile of their front door.
The City maintains over 30 miles of trails, many of which are located in natural resource corridors. With only a few exceptions, trails are readily available to all neighborhoods.
The Chanhassen Recreation Center, located at 2310 Coulter Boulevard, offers a fun and friendly atmosphere for people of all ages at an affordable price. The Rec Center includes a gym, fitness room, aerobics/dance room, and meeting rooms.
The City offers a wide variety of youth, adult and senior recreation activities. From youth Pee-Wee tennis and hockey, to adult aerobics, basketball and softball, to senior citizen trips abroad, wood carving and card clubs, there is an activity to fit any lifestyle.
The Chanhassen Skate Park, located between City Hall and the downtown fire station, provides everything todays skaters need for challenging runs. A hockey/inline skating rink is also on this site.
Nine lakes are located entirely or partially within the City. They vary in size and amenities, but many contain abundant fishing opportunities, public beaches, and boat access areas. Lifeguards are on duty at Lake Ann during the summer.
If golf is more to your liking, a number of championship golf courses are located within a short driving distance.
