The Washington County Public Library-Hardwood Creek Branch, located in the Washington County Service Center, has over 45,000 items for adults and children, including books, magazines, compact discs and both video and audiocassettes. In addition, the library provides Internet access, preschool story times and a countywide reading program.

If theatre is your forte, make sure to grab a seat to one of Masquers Theatre Company’s shows. The nonprofit theatrical troupe has entertained the Forest Lake Area using local talent since 1977.

The Lakes Area Chorus twice advanced to the Sweet Adelines international contest. The group presents an annual show, participates in parades and delights local audiences.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the Forest Lake Area has many beautiful lakes and parks to enjoy. Picnic tables, tennis and volleyball courts, plus baseball diamonds are available, along with many playgrounds for community use. The Forest Lake Area Athletic Association provides both traveling and in-house sports for Forest Lake Area youth since 1950. The FLAAA Sports Complex provides one year-round sheet of ice, a seasonal sheet of ice, which is then used as a turf area for other sports, and is home to new ball diamonds, football and soccer fields.

This beautiful area of Minnesota offers unlimited opportunities for swimming, fishing, hiking, boating, ice hockey and golf. Choose from a private 18-hole or several area public nine and 18-hole courses. The 23,000-acre Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area is also nearby and is home to the Wildlife Science Center. The Wildlife Science Center houses wolves, bears, lynx and raptors, provides educational tours and is greatly involved in the Forest Lake Area community.
