Location and Transportation

The communities making up the I-94 West Region are equipped with a strategic location in the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis-St. Paul. This central position, not only in the state of Minnesota but the country as well, is ideal for residents and businesses looking for high-quality, small-town living within reach of the amenities of a major metropolitan area.

I-94 is an expansive interstate highway traveling between Port Huron, MI at its eastern end and Billings, MT at its western end. The east-west route winds more than 250 miles through central Minnesota and bisects the communities within the I-94 West Chamber service area. It serves as the main arterial roadway in the region, providing an easy connection to Minneapolis-St. Paul (25 miles from Rogers), St. Cloud (40 miles from Rogers) and many other Midwestern destinations.

Traveling to and from the communities of the I-94 West Region is simple thanks to the availability of numerous transportation outlets. Among the options for local travel include Metro Transit’s bus, light rail and commuter rail services, Wright County’s RiverRider Bus Service, Hennepin County’s Transit Link (dial-a-ride service) and local paratransit services for seniors and disabled residents. Amtrak regional rail is available in both St. Cloud and Minneapolis-St. Paul, while Greyhound operates stations in numerous surrounding communities. In addition, commercial air service is available at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, which is served by 12 passenger airlines.I-94

The I-94 West Corridor Coalition exists to ensure that the transportation structure remains fluid and remains a major transportation corridor within the U.S. The coalition is seeking $345 million in federal transportation funding from Congress.

The I-94 corridor is a critical artery for the transportation of people and goods in and out of the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. This corridor remains one of the fastest-growing economic engines in the region. However, the economic growth of the corridor and the safety of those traveling on it are in great jeopardy without the implementation of a comprehensive transportation plan in the region.

The coalition works with Congressional and Legislative leaders to advance the I-94 Corridor improvement as a top priority for the State of Minnesota. The I-94 Corridor Coalition is currently seeking funding and support from our business members, cities within our region, organizations and the general public.

We all have a vested interest in the transportation infrastructure along this critical corridor. Visit our website,, to learn more about the coalition.
