Parks and Recreation

The I-94 West Region is full of opportunities to enjoy recreation, both active and passive. The area sits at the confluence of the Crow River’s North Fork and Mississippi River, which presents scenic riverscapes and exciting water recreation opportunities, including canoeing and fishing. The I-94 West Region is also spotted with lakes ideal for swimming, boating and more.

Area municipalities manage a collection of local parks and facilities, as does Wright County, which operates dozens of regional and county parks, preserves, forests, lakes, waysides and miles of multi-use trail systems. Sites maintained by the Wright County Parks System positioned within the I-94 West Region include Beebe Lake Regional Park in St. Michael, Otsego Regional Park and Riverside County Park in Hanover.

Three Rivers Park District

The region is also well-served by the Three Rivers Park District, a system that operates the Crow-Hassan Park Reserve in Hanover and the Lake Rebecca Park Reserve in Rockford, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The Minnesota DNR manages three wildlife management areas in the I-94 West region, as well as the nearby Lake Maria State Park in Monticello.

In addition to these outstanding sites, the communities of I-94 West take advantage of bowling alleys, a modern ice arena and numerous golf courses. From novices to experts, there’s a course here to meet any challenge. Among the popular courses in the I-94 West Region are Medina Golf & Country Club, Cedar Creek Golf Course in Albertville, Fox Hollow Golf Club in St. Michael, Sundance Golf in Dayton and the Riverwood National/Vintage Golf Course in Otsego.
