Although the MetroNorth
Chamber of Commerce includes business members from the entire Twin Cities
area, the primary region that we serve is Anoka County, north of Minneapolis.
It's a big area (424 square miles), with a big population (300,000 people)
and equally big ideas.
Transportation by car and truck is convenient throughout MetroNorth's
territory. Our main east-west traffic artery is US-10. Several major highways
- I-35, MN-65, US-169, and the new freeway, 610 - lead south to Minneapolis,
St. Paul, and the inner ring of suburbs.
Bus lines from Metro Transit (612-373-3333), along with park-and-ride
lots, are available in the southern part of the County. The Anoka County
Traveler provides door-to-door service throughout the County by appointment
(763-323-5222). The Anoka County Airport in Blaine is the busiest of six
"reliever airports" for the region's major hub, the Minneapolis-St.
Paul International Airport. The Blaine location handles some 200,000 private
and corporate flights per year.
Planning is underway for a commuter rail line that will link our area
with downtown Minneapolis. From there, light rail service now under construction
will provide a fast link to the International Airport and
Mall of America.
