Parks & Recreation

Ramsey County and the communities of Northeast Metro maintain an impressive system of park lands for residents’ recreational use. Countywide, residents enjoy more than 1,000 acres of wetlands, woodlands, picnic areas, and playgrounds. City and county parks provide facilities for a diverse array of activities, including basketball, softball, ice-skating, tennis, volleyball, archery, cycling, golf, and soccer.

An extensive series of hiking and walking trails enables residents to explore the region’s natural beauty up close - sometimes right in their own backyards. Maplewood Nature Center also offers environmental education programs, pond studies, and birthday parties.

Residents are served by the Ramsey County Library System, which has branches in Arden Hills, Maplewood, Mounds View, North St. Paul, Roseville, and Shoreview. The Roseville branch has a coffee shop in the building and a drive-up book return window. Oakdale, which is in Washington County, also has its own library.graphic
