This northern suburb of Minneapolis with a population of 69,000 has received national attention for its systematic approach to development. Operating with a comprehensive master plan, Brooklyn Park has grown steadily to become the states sixth-largest city, and nearly 35 percent of its land remains undeveloped, despite its close proximity to the Minneapolis area.
Brooklyn Park was selected in 1999 as one of only 30 finalists nationally for the prestigious All-America City Award from the National Civic League.
Various recreational amenities exist in Brooklyn Park, including Edinburgh USA, a tour-caliber golf course, an award-winning park system featuring 65 community park facilities, a community-wide trail system, and an activity center featuring a new senior center and two indoor sheets of ice.
