Location and Transportation

Uniquely situated as a neighboring community of three of the five largest cities in Minnesota (Minneapolis, St. Paul and Bloomington), residents and visitors of Richfield truly have access to everything they need in 15 minutes or less.

Our boundaries are the airport to the east, 494 on the south, Crosstown Highway 62 to the north and Xerxes Avenue on the west. We are centrally located between many points of interest and just minutes from Mall of America, downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul.

About 13 percent of Richfield residents live and work in Richfield; for those who commute to work, the average travel time is 20 minutes.

Hiawatha Light Rail — specifically the Blue Line — offers fast, quiet, light-rail service to 19 stations between downtown Minneapolis and Mall of America.

Dozens of bus routes are timed to connect with light rail trains at Blue Line stations, which allow quick, easy access to downtown Minneapolis from the Mall of America and the international airport area. This 11.6-mile route links the large economic and job centers in the region. For more information about MetroTransit schedules, please visit
