With an enrollment of 9,500 students, the White Bear Lake Area School District serves its ìsecond-ring suburbanî community with nine elementary schools, two middle schools, two high school campuses, an area learning center, and an early childhood center.
The superintendent of the district, Dr. Blaesing, has been honored as superintendent of the year for his leadership, professionalism, and community involvement. Dr. Blaesing has been superintendent for the White Bear Lake Area Schools since 1993. He is especially noted for his ability to communicate effectively with all members of the community, building strong connections within the school district. With his leadership, the district has established a number of important initiatives to improve the district's communication efforts, such as conducting community-wide surveys about how people feel about their schools, hosting information booths at community events, and enhancing a comprehensive district web site.
School District #832 serves 2,700 students from Mahtomedi, Willernie, Dellwood, Pine Springs, and portions of Grant, Hugo and Lake Elmo. The District operates two elementary schools, one middle school and a high school. Numerous parochial elementary and high schools, private academies, and Montessori schools provide alternative education options.
Higher learning is just around the corner at Century College on Century Avenue in White Bear Lake. It maintains renowned liberal arts and science programs and 60 technical and career programs including nursing, medical imaging, and computer technology. The university not only provides quality education to its students, but it also plays in important role in supporting community service and other area projects.
