graphicWelcome to Marion County! Marion County is located in South Central Mississippi approximately 30 miles west of Hattiesburg and 100 miles north of the Gulf Coast. Columbia, the largest city within the county borders and county seat, has a population of 7,000. There are many other wonderful communities located in Marion County, and the Marion County Development Partnership (MCDP) is working to connect the many communities within the county together, by "connecting the dots."

The MCDP, a public-private non-profit organization, includes the former Marion County Chamber of Commerce, Marion County Economic Development District, and the Columbia-Marion County Development Foundation. The Partnership is governed by an 11-member board and funded through contributions from city and county government, businesses, other local organizations, and citizens. The staff of the MCDP includes Joey Grisham, President/CEO and Carolyn Burton, VP of the Chamber Division. An administrative assistant will also be hired in the coming months. By uniting businesses, industries, schools, organizations, and citizens, the MCDP seeks to help improve the overall quality of life within Marion County. The Partnership is proud to be a partner in the ongoing development of our community. We hope you will stop by and visit us at the MCDP in the near future, as well as enjoy all the county has to offer including various shops, restaurants, activities, and the rich history that goes along with Marion County.
