Recreational sites abound in “The Maple Leaf City.” Residents and visitors alike enjoy the spaces provided to them, with a number of parks and arenas allowing for sports, hiking, fishing, picnicking or just relaxing.

Carthage is home to many city parks including: Municipal Park, encompassing a golf course, pool, the Saddle Club Arena and skating rink; Central Park, comprised of a playground, picnic areas, a Victorian-era fountain, the Marlin Perkins statue, the Missouri Vietnam Memorial and more; Kellogg Lake Park, boasting the largest outdoor classroom in the area as well as offering activities such as fishing, hiking and picnicking; and Carter Park, providing playground equipment and picnic areas.

The Fair Acres Family YMCA offers the community a number of programs and events for both youth and adults. Here, members can enjoy a variety of sports, recreational activities and a health and fitness center. Next door is the Fair Acres Sports Complex, providing abundant space for softball, baseball and youth soccer tournaments and leagues.

The Carthage Golf Course is the area’s public championship golf course, made up of an 18-hole, par 71 course. In addition to the course, there is an 8,000 square foot putting green and a practice area. The Carthage Golf Center offers a full-service driving range, as well as an 18-hole miniature golf course.
