Healthcare

St. Anthony's

Access to quality and compassionate healthcare is an essential need in every community. In today’s fast-paced society, it makes sense for families to have healthcare close to home and there are numerous options open to area residents.

Founded by the Franciscan Sisters of Germany in 1900, St. Anthony’s Medical Center has been serving the healthcare needs of residents of St. Louis County, Jefferson County and St. Louis City in Missouri, and St. Clair and Monroe counties in Illinois for more than 100 years.

The third-largest medical center in the St. Louis metropolitan area, St. Anthony’s is a 767-bed comprehensive healthcare complex and Level Two trauma center whose primary focus service lines include cardiology, women’s services, oncology/cancer care, orthopedics, neurology and emergency medicine. In addition, St. Anthony’s operates four urgent care facilities – located in Crestwood, Arnold, Fenton and Lemay.

St. Anthony’s is staffed by more than 4,000 employees, and served by more than 800 physicians, dentists and other medical professionals in private practice. The medical staff provides a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical, diagnostic, emergency and behavioral health services to more than 225,000 patients each year.

Situated on 80 acres in south St. Louis County, St. Anthony’s initiated a $90 million hospital redesign and construction project in 2006. The project features St. Anthony’s recently completed Heart and Surgical Pavilion, which offers the latest in medical technology and patient-centered care. The new facility also offers all private acute-care patient rooms. Another major component of the construction project is the new Cardinal Glennon Pediatric Emergency Care facility on St. Anthony’s campus. The major construction project also will renovate and relocate several clinical services to enhance patient access and care.

Patient-centered healthcare is the cornerstone of St. Anthony’s, and a hallmark of its identity as a Catholic hospital rooted in the principles of Franciscan spirituality. St. Anthony’s mission and core values reflect a strong desire to focus the organization’s attention on providing the best care to every patient, every day.
