The City of Forsyth provides safe streets, lakeside living, and a friendly, small-town atmosphere for 2,250 residents. It is the gateway to the Mark Twain National Forest and is situated along two of the lakes of the White River Valley. The area is rich in history, scenic beauty and recreational activities.
Forsyth maintains award-winning utility services, police and fire protection, licensing and building inspection services and two city parks. Enhancing those services are excellent public schools, a library in the heart of Forsyth, and very active community groups and churches.
The community groups organize a variety of activities throughout the year to support their individual missions as well as charities throughout the area. These events include a county fair, celebratory parades (Patriot Day, Halloween, and Christmas), car shows, motorcycle swap meets, horse shows, softball leagues, and a BBQ cook-off. Event schedules are found on the city's website: www.cityofforsythmo.com.
Shadowrock Park and Campground has a wide variety of recreation opportunities for residents and visitors. There are picnic pavilions, a playground, volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts, a softball field, a horse shoe pit, a boat launch and fish cleaning station and plenty of green space. A walking trail from the park to Powersite Dam provides additional walking and biking options.
The campground has a peaceful, relaxed feeling while being convenient to the restaurants and shops that Forsyth has to offer. Amenities include RV and tent camping sites, shower houses and bathrooms, barbecue grills and a fire pit. For reservations, call (417) 546-2876.
Shoals Bend Park is in the early stages of development. This park is the home of the annual county fair. It offers a softball field and open green space within a neighborhood near East State Highway 76.
Bull Shoals Lake and Lake Taneycomo offer trout and bass fishing, boating, canoeing and kayaking. Boat rentals and docks are locally available. Nearby conservation areas have prime deer and turkey hunting locations and hiking and biking trails, as well as the chance to observe Ozarksí nature at its best.
