Shopping and Dining

When it comes to shopping and dining, Independence has it covered. The city is dotted with a number of retail and restaurant developments – most notably the newly revitalized Historic Independence Square, which offers dozens of charming specialty and antique shops and delicious eateries in the heart of town. Numerous other shopping spots line the streets of Independence, including the Englewood Station Shopping District (the oldest suburban retail center in the community), Bolger Square, Hartman Heritage, Noland Fashion Square, along with Independence Commons and Independence Center (featuring more than 130 stores and restaurants).

A day of shopping can certainly work up an appetite – and area eateries are ready to serve! Independence offers a fantastic blend of places to eat, ranging from casual diners, bar & grills, delis, coffeehouses, old-fashioned ice cream parlors and fine dining establishments. National chains mix well with local favorites, which together present eclectic menus featuring everything under the sun. From pizza, pasta, sandwiches and salads to prime steaks, seafood and ethnic-infused dishes, there is something to meet even the pickiest of appetites in Independence.
