Parks and Recreation

When the weather heats up, life in North County is spent outside. Outdoor pools, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, soccer fields, golf – North County has it all. No shortage of recreational amenities is found here, as each community has more than several options for outdoor enjoyment.

Parks, perfect for enjoying the summer sun or a family barbecue, are sprinkled in and around the northern suburbs. Some parks allow fishing in small ponds, sponsor charitable sporting events or host festivals to celebrate holidays or special events.

Recreation and civic centers cater to the athletic residents who thrive on physical fitness and competition. Most every sport from swimming to volleyball can call one of these centers home. Open to the public, they are popular sites for those who enjoy time away from home for a few hours.

With two of the most popular rivers in the nation, water activities abound on the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Fishermen spend mornings, afternoons and evenings relaxing and reeling, while water-skiers and swimmers jump at the chance to cool off in the refreshing waters.

Across I-70 lies the culturally hip city of St. Louis, and the prospect of sophistication. Museums, art galleries, orchestras and amphitheaters offer the best in entertainment, while frivolous enjoyment found at professional sporting events and local casinos also exists.
