The Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation Department manages several city parks, including Hillcrest Swimming Pool, nine lighted baseball fields, three soccer fields, five picnic pavilions, two multi-purpose trails, a boat launch and a golf course.

Ozark Ridge Golf Course has gained a reputation as one of the finest public courses in the Mid-South. With large bentgrass greens, protective bunkers and tree-lined fairways, it offers a challenge among the beautiful scenery.

The Poplar Bluff Ranger District is headquartered in Poplar Bluff and contains 150,000 acres of the Mark Twain National Forest, which is open to the public for hiking, camping, hunting, bird watching, bike riding and canoeing.

The Ranger District manages several developed recreation areas, the newest being the Hendrickson Boat Launch and Trailhead. Located 10 miles north of Poplar Bluff on Highway 67, it provides boat access to the river pools near the Williamsville Stone Plant.

From the many natural areas one can find a wealth of recreational opportunities. Whether it’s camping at the foothills of the Ozarks, tubing down a river or just watching wildlife, there are innumerable ways to interact with nature.
