Health Care

SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital When it comes to health care, this growing and changing region has many of the latest medical technologies and advancements at arm's length. And SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital St. Charles leads the way by offering some of the most modern services and treatments available.

The 333-bed acute care center in historic downtown St. Charles has been caring for families in St. Charles, Warren and Lincoln counties for more than 130 years. The facility continues to expand and enhance services, recruit outstanding physicians, staff and other caregivers, as well as upgrade its physical space to provide an exceptional patient experience.

The hospital's goals include providing convenient, efficient, personalized health care. SSM Health is actively engaged in developing an innovative model of care in which it partners with patients to manage and achieve individualized health and wellness goals.

In April 2017, the hospital opened a $26 million outpatient center in St. Charles. The facility spans 55,7000 square feet and, with its location just off Interstate 70, allows for easy access to primary and specialty health care services, including an urgent care clinic and advanced imaging services such as MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, mammography and bone density. It also provides a new home for specialists in internal medicine, pediatrics, endocrinology and SSM Health Physical Therapy. Additionally, there's an outpatient laboratory, retail pharmacy, education center and a café.

This center represents the culmination of SSM Health's vision for the future of health care in St. Charles County, said Mike Bowers, president of SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital St. Charles. Placing greater emphasis on outpatient care allows us to improve the health care experience by building relationships with our patients and actively promoting healthy lifestyle decisions.

The hospital is nearing completion of a significant expansion project consisting of the construction of a patient tower and outpatient services center at its Lake Saint Louis campus. The three-floor, 75,000-square-foot tower adds 84 patient beds, a dialysis center and a physical therapy gym.

The two-story outpatient facility will feature expanded laboratory services include nuclear medicine and cardiovascular procedure rooms.
