When it comes to buying a home, choosing St. Charles County has proven to be a sound investment. The area provides an eclectic mix of established neighborhoods and new construction, as well as myriad public amenities, community events and outdoor recreational offerings. Housing prices are on the rise, proving that the area is becoming increasingly popular.

Home values and real estate prices here have been at an all-time high, according to Mark Stallman, CEO of St. Charles County Association of Realtors®. For the first quarter of 2017 (the most recent data available), the median home price jumped 7.4 percent to $204,000 – the highest ever here.

One of Missouri’s most bustling communities, St. Charles, enjoys a host of local, big-city perks with plenty of small-town charm. It provides a high quality of life and a wide variety of housing options.

St. Charles County is home to a wide selection of housing options, from charming, modest starter homes to luxury estates to retirement living – and everything in between.

When it comes to distinctive housing options, the county has a bevy to pick from. Larger municipalities include St. Charles, St. Peters, O’Fallon, Dardenne Prairie, Lake Saint Louis, Wentzville, Cottleville and Weldon Spring. Several of these routinely rank highly on community safety lists. All offer distinctive neighborhoods for home buyers to browse.

In St. Charles, Spring Mill offers luxury homes, many of which are $500,000 and up.

In St. Peters alone, there are some 200 neighborhoods to explore. One of the newer and more popular developments in St. Charles is the Streets of St. Charles: a mixed-use venue that offers entertainment, shopping, dining and residences. New luxury apartments here offer a plush urban atmosphere and nine floor plans. Options include balconies, terraces, a heated infinity pool, outdoor kitchen and grilling areas, hot tub, fire pit, business center, clubhouse, 24-hour fitness center complete with tanning bed and even a dog grooming parlor.

Part of what makes the area so desirable are low crime rates, high-quality schools, an affordable cost of living and an endless list of activities. The county has created several parks and public trails have been expanded over the course of the last decade.

The five largest cities in St. Charles County – St. Charles, St. Peters, O’Fallon, Wentzville and Lake Saint Louis – were included in a 2017 list of the top 50 safest cities in Missouri by the National Council for Home Safety and Security.

With its locally owned shops and restaurants, historic Main Street St. Charles serves as a focal point and tourist draw.
