Many of Aurora’s fine community facilities were built with private contributions rather than tax dollars. This commitment to private funding has saved taxpayers millions of dollars and given the community the Bremer Community Center, Alice M. Farr Library, Frank Farr Senior Citizen Center, the Leadership Center, Aurora’s Memorial Hospital and Clinic, the Edgerton Explorit Center and the Plainsman Museum. Combined, foundation reserves total more than $30 million. The community is especially proud of the 12th Street Cinema and The Youth Center, an activity-filled center for youth. More than 30 local volunteer organizations serve the community and support these facilities.
