Heeeeere’s Johnny! Well maybe not the real thing, but a trip to the Elkhorn Valley Museum and Research Center will bring you one step closer to late-night entertainment legend Johnny Carson. Not only will you see an interactive exhibit honoring one of Norfolk’s most famous sons, you will also enjoy a look at the old Granada Theater, the history of a 22-county region, and the only working Square Turn Tractor. The Willetta Lueshen Bird Library, located in the museum’s southwest corner, offers unique indoor bird-viewing stations as well as a library filled with books and research that any birdwatcher would envy. The Museum recently added the popular Children’s Discovery Zone for the youth of the area to stop in and explore.

The Norfolk Art Center, with its beautiful, artistic building is a must see. With its revolving exhibits, classes, state-of-the-art computer lab, and many receptions, this is a place where anyone of any age can enjoy all of the arts. Do not miss the sculpture garden; you never know what will catch your eye!

While you are in the area, be sure to visit Nebraska’s first winery, located just 20 minutes away, or for a little longer drive, try the Ashfall Fossil Beds State Historical Park. Tourists here can view barrel-bodied rhinos, three-toed horses, llama-like camels and three horned deer.

Visitors can find a lodging facility to meet any need, so come often and stay as long as you like. There are plenty of things to see and do in Norfolk!
