Recreation for Everyone
Seward maintains 14 public parks totaling 464 acres. The 35-acre Plum Creek Sports Complex has seven soccer fields, four baseball fields and is the trailhead for a new 2.7-mile hiking and biking trail.
Seward is also home to a state-of-the art aquatic facility, Dowding Municipal Pool. The 655,000-gallon, heated pool features a water slide, a diving platform, a lap swimming area, water cannons and pop-up jets.
Seward’s other parks include playground equipment, rest rooms, lighted tennis courts, softball diamonds, sand volleyball court and horseshoe pits. A grandstand, fairgrounds with 4-H display buildings and a livestock center are adjacent to Seward’s Centennial Park.
Programs are offered in youth baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, cheerleading, flag and midget football, basketball, wrestling and swimming. Adult programs include baseball, softball, volleyball and basketball.
Seward has a private nine-hole golf course and clubhouse, an eight-lane bowling alley, and a city pond for seasonal ice-skating.
The Seward Youth Center has game tables, computer study areas, a snack bar and a variety of youth programs. The Lied Senior Center offers health and education programs as well as meals and other activities five days a week. A private fitness center has facilities and programs that include racquetball, a climbing wall, and martial arts.
