Whether shopping for a truck, a two-by-four or a tennis racket, Seward residents never have to travel far to find exactly what they need. Seward has over 100 retailers that sell apparel, appliances, furniture, flowers, farm implements and much more.
Several antique sellers have found a niche in Seward, which is quickly becoming known as a destination for antique-loving day-trippers. Seward is home to a Super Wal-Mart and two grocery stores.
The historic Seward County Courthouse, a landmark with an old-fashioned feel, anchors the downtown-shopping district. On Wednesdays and Saturdays from June to October, nearly 70 farmers and vendors set up shop on the square.
The retail, banking and business district that surrounds the courthouse is complemented by additional shopping areas south on Nebraska Highway 15, west on U.S. Highway 34, and several other locations in the community.
The Chamber of Commerce supports the retail community through its business relations committee. The committee sponsors sidewalk sales, gift certificate drawings and many holiday events designed to draw in local and regional shoppers.
