Things to Help Conserve

Leave No Trace

• Stay on the trail

• Outfit your boat with direct fuel-injected two-stroke or four-stroke engines

• Pick up your own trash

• Wash your boat and propeller before you put it in the water

• Pick up after your pet

Respect the Wildlife

• Put your trash out in the morning

• Install a bear-proof container

• Do not leave food unsecured in your garage

• Unplug your cell phone charger when not charging your phone

• Reduce your own carbon emissions by eliminating shipping costs for the products you buy

• Support your Tahoe neighbors to help sustain a viable local economy

• Be a conscientious consumer

Drink tap water

• Reduce your plastic consumption, not your water consumption

• Fill up your water bottle at the tap and enjoy some of the cleanest drinking water in the world

When staying in a hotel

• Turn off the lights and close the drapes when you leave to save energy

• Look for lodging properties that offer public transportation or that loan bicycles to guests

• Talk to the management about their environmental practices – use your voice to effectuate change!
