Atlantic County is business friendly!

From blueberries to poker chips, and from three centuries of boatbuilding to developing the nation’s next generation air-traffic control system, Atlantic County offers a diversity of businesses which are attracted by the same enviable quality of life which attracts vacationers from all over the world. While the tourism industry has thrived with the addition of casino gaming in Atlantic City, the additional year-round income has led to rapid growth of the retail and services sectors. Direct casino industry wages alone amount to over three-quarters of a billion dollars in income for county residents.

The regional economy continues to diversify while building on historic strengths. The county has become an attraction to golfers as well as gamblers as the mild climate and large visitor base has encouraged the investment in a number of new courses. In the high-tech sector, the William Hughes Research Center of the FAA has been developing an air-traffic control system, which will be adopted worldwide. The companies, which have located in the county to assist in this effort, include many of the nation’s leading software and hardware development firms. Of course, the county still manages to be a leading grower of blueberries.

Like these diverse industries existing side-by-side in the county’s affordable and expandable network of business parks, the workforce is also diverse, well trained and talented. A network of business, legal and health services has been created in the county, which attracts people of many talents and degrees of education. To ensure that the technical needs of new and expanding businesses are met, the county offers vocational secondary education, a comprehensive community college, and a state college, which now offers an array of graduate degrees. The casino industry itself supports a large pool of employees with skills in marketing, finance, public relations, and information systems.

Atlantic County can also offer business conventioneers a place to have fun and do business. The Atlantic City Convention Center boasts more than 500,000-square-feet of contiguous exhibition space. It remains one of the most popular convention, trade show and meeting destinations in the country.

Almost any business can find a home in Atlantic County. Not only a great place to visit, as the 40 million people who do so annually will attest, but also a great place to do business. The Atlantic County Chamber of Commerce welcomes you to do business with us.
