Buttonwood Hospital, a nonprofit skilled nursing facility owned and operated by Burlington County, provides long-term care and is rated 4 stars by Medicare. The Burlington County Health Department provides many essential public health services for residents in all 40 municipalities, including emergency preparedness planning, communicable disease control, health education, screenings and immunizations and an animal shelter. The Department also conducts environmental, housing and restaurant inspections, and outreach through schools and faith-based organizations to encourage healthy choices among youth.

The Burlington County Office on Aging provides assistance, outreach services and information, including a monthly newsletter, to a large, active senior population. Programs include care management, legal assistance, transportation, Meals on Wheels and nutrition lunch centers, social day care, home health aides, respite services and home security improvements.
