M. CHRISTINA GEIS ART GALLERY
Located in the Arts and Sciences Center at Georgian Court University, monthly exhibits of professional artists from the Middle–Atlantic states are displayed October–March. The works of Georgian court art majors are displayed February–September. Hours: Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–8 p.m. Weekends and summers by appointment.
OCEAN COUNTY PARK
This magnificent facility (700 Route 88) has a rich and fascinating history. Many specimen trees imported by John D. Rockefeller still stand. Hours: 9 a.m.–Dusk.LAKEWOOD HERITAGE MUSEUM
The museum is located at 231 3rd Street (Municipal Building) on the first and second floors. Hours: Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
SISTER MARY GRACE ARBORETUM
Part of Georgian Court University, tours are available for groups of 15 or more by appointment to visit four classically designed gardens: an Italian Garden, a Sunken Garden, a Formal Garden and a Japanese Garden.
GEORGIAN COURT UNIVERSITY
Established in 1908, Georgian Court (900 Lakewood Avenue) is a Roman Catholic University founded and sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. This beautiful campus features an elaborate mansion and casino (both of which are on the New Jersey and National Register of Historic Places), gardens and fountains. Tours are available for groups of 15 or more by appointment.
THE STRAND THEATER
Designed by world-renowned theater architect Thomas Lamb, this 1,066-seat theater (4th Street and Clifton Avenue), opened in 1922, and is listed on the New Jersey and National Register of the Historic Places. This air-conditioned theater is open all year. Tours are available by appointment.
