Old Bridge is situated between two major New Jersey regions: the Shore Region, which features 127 miles of flawless beaches, providing ample opportunities for water-based recreation, and the Gateway Region, known to be a true tourism and cultural hot spot. This East Coast Township is part of the larger Middlesex County, or the “Heart” of New Jersey, one of the state’s fastest-growing counties.
Old Bridge is considered a center of transportation; many of the region’s most important roadways pass through town. State Routes 9, 18, 34 and 35, as well as County Route 516, travel directly through Old Bridge, while County Route 527, the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike are readily accessible within a close proximity. Old Bridge also maintains a number of local thoroughfares, which offer ease of travel when commuting in and out of town. This suburban community is ideally located along these routes and approximately seven miles from East Brunswick, 36 miles from New York City, 64 miles from Philadelphia, and 84 miles from Atlantic City.
The Township hosts two Park and Ride locations at Route 9 North and Westminster Boulevard and at Route 9 North and Inverness Drive. There are five other commuter parking lots throughout Old Bridge, many are free or charge a minimal fee for a day. NJ Transit provides daily train services with routes to New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Boston and Washington, D.C.; while NJ Transit, Suburban Transit Academy and the Old Bridge Jitney Service provide bus services.
General aviation services are supplied through Old Bridge Airport, located on Pension Road. For commercial air travel, Old Bridge residents utilize Newark Liberty International Airport, a quick 30-minute drive from the area. Hundreds of daily flights to destinations across the globe are offered at Newark Liberty, home to the country’s oldest airfield.
