Education creates endless possibilities for the future. Ten schools make up the Artesia Public School District. The Grand Heights Early Childhood Center has an enrollment of about 250 kindergartners. Children move on to one of five elementary schools: Central, Hermosa, Roselawn, Yeso or Yucca. Registered students for each school range from 136 to 435, and there is a favorable student to teacher ratio. Artesia Intermediate School serves about 600 students in grades six and seven. Artesia Junior High School has an enrollment of approximately 480 for grades eight and nine. Roughly 700 students attend Artesia High School for grades 10 through 12. Peñasco School in Hope, New Mexico, serves 22 students in grades kindergarten through eighth.

Artesia Vocational Training Center offers opportunities for vocational training and higher education. At the Center, Artesia Training Academy offers licensure training for CDL, while New Mexico State University-Carlsbad offers a variety of educational opportunities for those pursuing degrees or personal enrichment. In downtown Artesia offices, Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell offers a variety of services for specialized training. Artesia Public Library continues to grow its resources and programs, such as the Summer Reading Program, for its patrons.
