Bloomfield Letter of Introduction

Bloomfield is the “Heart of the Four Corners” area. Located in the high desert (altitude 5500 ft.) of Northwest New Mexico, Bloomfield lies leisurely along the banks of the San Juan River.

Bloomfield Cityscape

To the North, the majestic San Juan Mountains create a spectacular backdrop for our lush river valley. To the South and West, a person can find the beauty of the desert landscape once inhabited by the Anasazi Indians, known as the “Ancient Ones.” A few miles to the East, a sportsman’s paradise unfolds for hunting, fishing and boating enthusiasts.

Bloomfield still has that “small town” charm, even though the population is just fewer than 10,000, while the total population of San Juan County is 100,000.

The city is located within close proximity to Farmington, NM, and Durango, CO. For those individuals who like the occasional trip to the big city, Albuquerque is only 180 miles to the Southeast on a recently completed 4-lane highway.

Bloomfield is known as the “Gas Capital of the United States” due to the extensive production of natural gas from the mineral-rich San Juan Basin. The natural gas industry has contributed greatly to the continuous growth of this city.
