Healthcare

Good health and well-being are important considerations in both the personal and professional scopes. In Ulster County, health and wellness institutions, organizations and businesses are not only important business partners but also essential to the good of the community.

Healthcare is one of the most important concerns to Ulster County and its citizens. Under the banner of HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley, the Kingston Hospital and Benedictine Hospital serve Ulster County’s growing needs. These facilities work in concert to better help the people and communities they serve. A third facility in Ulster County is the Ellenville Regional Hospital.

The Cancer Center at Benedictine Hospital makes available advances in cancer diagnostics and treatment technology – featuring an outpatient chemotherapy unit, a radiation oncology center, expanded detection services, and the region’s first dedicated inpatient Hospice and Palliative Care Unit. Furthermore, the new Dr. Joseph & Ester B. Harman Sleep Center at Benedictine Hospital treats a variety of sleep disorders.

Working together, Benedictine and the Kingston hospitals offer access to diagnostic cardiac catheterization – a diagnostic tool that allows doctors to locate and evaluate severity of coronary artery disease, one of the leading causes of death in the United States.

The Kingston Hospital’s Dialysis Center provides both inpatient and outpatient nephrology care for the adult and geriatric population. The center is able to assess, diagnose, treat and evaluate those with acute and chronic renal failure. The Kingston Hospital offers a diabetes center to treat and educate those who need help managing the disease.

The Northeast Center for Special Care is New York’s first facility specializing in treating people with severe traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. No other facility in New York is equipped with such extensive services in physical, occupational and speech therapy; respiratory therapy; hydrotherapy; and cognitive treatments.
