Balancing Growth & Herirage
The Fuquay-Varina Revitalization Association is a non-profit organization whose mission is to facilitate development of the business and residential historic districts as an economic, cultural and recreational center for the community through infrastructure enhancement and cooperative efforts with government and civic groups.
The historic areas are comprised of Broad Street in Varina and Main Street and the surrounding side streets in Fuquay. As Fuquay-Varina continues to grow, it is vitally important to maintin the town’s history, character and charm that the downtown area represents. The Fuquay-Varina Revitalization Association has led the charge on restoring these areas. Improvements to the traditional commercial districts have included new sidewalks, enhanced landscaping, historically correct lighting and restoring building facades to reflect the character of the community at the turn of the 20th century.
Both historic areas offer quaint shops, fine boutiques, specialty stores and unique dining. This pedestrian-friendly part of Fuquay-Varina offers ample parking. The Fuquay-Varina Revitalization Association hosts several events each year including the Festival of the Arts, A Visit with the Easter Bunny and the Downtown Chili Cook-off.
