Welcome Letter

Welcome to Kernersville! We are glad you have chosen to be a part of a truly special community located in the Heart of the Triad. With moderate weather year round and a diverse group of people, who support each other, you will find this to be a very welcoming community. Located just a short drive from warm beaches and stunning mountains, Kernersville is ideally situated for you to take advantage of all destinations in North Carolina.

We have a mix of faith-based, charitable, governmental, and privately owned organizations and businesses providing the services we need. The community calendar is filled with wholesome family activities sure to interest everyone. It’s no wonder our community message is to “Discover YourVille in Kernersville!” You can always find something of interest in our town.

A key component of a healthy community is employment opportunities. Employment continues to be enhanced by large employers such as Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center, Deere-Hitachi Machinery Corporation, FedEx Ground, Herbalife and the VA Medical Center. New small businesses and restaurants continue to pop up all over town. We are very fortunate for the many opportunities that our town offers.

If you or anyone you know needs assistance, Kernersville has supportive organizations that will help. Nonprofit human services organizations such as CareNet Counseling, Shepherd’s Center, Crisis Control, Next Step Ministries, the YMCA and others are available and ready to help in any situation. Kernersville is home to “Kernersville Cares for Kids”, an effort to encourage positive peer group interaction for middle and high school students to avoid drug and alcohol use.

Kernersville’s downtown continues to thrive with beautification efforts. Dozens of well-kept historic homes, many of which are on the National Register of Historic Places, line the streets of our historic district. Anchoring each end of the historic district are the 1878 Kšrner’s Folly and the 1873 Railroad Depot. The Kernersville Museum is situated in the middle of town to continue the historic legacy of Kernersville. During the Christmas season the town is adorned with Blinkie Lights®, a homegrown business with world-wide distribution. Just a few blocks away on the south side of town are larger stores and several shopping centers. Shopping in Kernersville is all-inclusive, everything you need can be found here.

As you can tell, we are sold on Kernersville as a community. Our chamber is interested in both the economic and quality of life aspects of the community. Kernersville offers many of the features of larger communities, with a warm, welcoming small town feel. Despite a steadily growing population base, you never feel crowded in Kernersville – except at our premier downtown street festival. Spring Folly, with its three entertainment stages, delicious food and fun for everyone, draws a crowd of 30,000 people each May.

As your 2015 and 2016 Chamber Board Chairs, we invite you to “Discover YourVille in Kernersville!” Browse through the pages and see what Kernersville has to offer you. You will make Kernersville YourVille in no time.
