Education

Wake Forest is served by the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS), which is comprised of 96 elementary schools (K-5), 30 middle schools (6-8), 23 high schools and four special/optional schools.

WCPSS is equipped with 34 Magnet-designated schools, and due to the influx of new students each year, the district has several new facilities slated to open in the future. In total, the district serves more than 134,000 students and is equipped with approximately 13,000 faculty and staff members. For more information, contact the Wake County Public School System at (919) 850-1600 or visit the district online at www.wcpss.net.

The community is home to Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, a higher learning facility and a Cooperative Program ministry of the Southern Baptist Convention. The institution opened its doors in May of 1956 on land purchased from the campus of Wake Forest College. Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary offers excellent theological training and fine educational preparation for the ministry through a number of graduate and postgraduate degree programs. The facility can be contacted at (919) 761-2100 or at www.sebts.edu.

Further institutions of higher learning in the area include Wake Technical Community College (www.waketech.edu), Vance-Granville Community College (www.vgcc.cc.nc.us), Louisburg College (www.louisburg.edu), Duke University (www.duke.edu), Meredith College (www.meredith.edu), Peace College (www.peace.edu), Shaw University (www.shawuniversity.edu), St. Augustine College (www.st-aug.edu), the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (www.unc.edu), North Carolina Central University (www.nccu.edu), and North Carolina State University (www.ncsu.edu).
