graphicThe Barberton-South Summit Chamber of Commerce has served virtually the entire southern half of the county since our incorporation in 1924.

With few changes in our area of governance, our boundaries are Akron to the north, Medina County on our west, Wayne and Stark Counties to our south and southwest, and now the City of Green to our east. Doylestown and Chippewa Township, although being in Wayne County, are both important partners in our past and future success.

The Barberton-South Summit region boasts excellent transportation routes. I-71, I-76, I-77, I-80 and I-277 criss-cross this territory conveniently near both Akron and Cleveland. State highways include SR 619 and 585 ensure citizens have a range of living options without sacrificing their choice of jobs.

Businesses rely on Conrail, CSX and the Akron-Barberton Belt Line for rail transport—the Akron-Canton Regional and Cleveland Hopkins International Airports handle commercial, passenger and freight air service. More than 50 franchised carriers and contract haulers cover our area’s trucking needs.

Citizens also access better-than-average bus transportation. The Metro Regional Transit Authority serves Summit County, Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority covers nearby Portage County, and the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority keeps people moving in Stark County. Travelers can also board an Amtrack coach to anywhere in the country conveniently at Akron.
