Business and Economic Development

Nestled in the heart of Northwest Ohio, the Findlay/Hancock County community is home to progress, expansion, and stability. With convenient access to railways, interstates and airports, Hancock County provides the infrastructure conducive to business, growth and family life. For the third consecutive year, Findlay, Ohio, has been ranked the top micropolitan community in the U.S. for new and expanding facilities by Site Selection magazine.

From agriculture to manufacturing, retail and small business start-ups, the diversification of our local economy is an important piece of our success. Here you will find the headquarters for Marathon Petroleum Corporation and Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, not to mention we are also the home of the sole assembly operation in the United States for Whirlpool’s dishwasher products. With the expansion and addition of organizations such as Valfilm, McLane Distribution Center and Campbell Soup Company, our hometown is uniquely positioned to be one of the best in the nation.

Continued investment in the community by established firms, such as those that reside in the Tall Timber Industrial Park, as well as our ability to attract new businesses and industries, both domestic and internationally, is a testament to the effectiveness and efficiency of Findlay’s business-friendly community. With the addition of Raise the Bar-Hancock County, a partnership of education, business, social services and community leaders, our area is positioned to have a prepared, expanding workforce allowing for growth now, and in the future, to fulfill our economic potential.

Rural communities are not falling behind during this season of growth. Thanks to programs such as the Community Foundation of Hancock County’s Heart & Soul initiative, communities of every size, such as Mt. Blanchard and McComb, are seeing the benefits of local prosperity and renewed interest.

Downtown Findlay is home to many thriving locally owned businesses. Our people-friendly downtown is inviting to visitors who want to walk, shop, eat and relax. Downtown Findlay is in the midst of an extensive revitalization project that will transform the area into a destination, making it pleasant and safe. Beautification of the neighborhood will coincide with vegetation and seasonal flowers to the addition of bike racks, and curb bump outs decorated with foliage.

A new addition to the Marathon Diamonds at The Cube home is the Blanchard Valley Health System Miracle Park. This customized park was built to provide children and adults with disabilities a place to play baseball and enjoy the adaptive playground equipment. Also housed at the Cube is the Ben Roethlisberger field at the Findlay Youth Football Facility, which provides youngsters an opportunity to learn football fundamentals and one day follow in the footsteps of Hancock County’s own Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

Our local government and economic development teams work very closely with elected officials, at all levels, to ensure that we continue to provide a competitive environment not only to attract new business, but to also sustain our already thriving companies. All of the pieces come together to make this a great place to live, learn, work and play.
