The educational system of any community is its foundation for the future, and Jackson County with its educational system has a very solid foundation.

As for its physical structures, Jackson County is one of the most progressive counties in the state of Ohio in terms of constructing modern educational campuses, as all three of the county’s school districts have new or completely remodeled buildings, with all three of the high schools in the county housed in brand new buildings.

The cost of the new and remodeled buildings, with a large assistance from the state’s building fund, totaled nearly $100 million.

The 11 new or completely renovated buildings have also led to greater educational opportunities for the students, and have created a stronger learning environment.

All three school districts have also put forth the maximum effort to meet all of the state’s standards for excellence in education.

high school

Nearly 500 seniors annually receive their diploma from a Jackson County high school before entering the workforce or furthering their education.

If more educational training is a graduate’s desire, there are three universities within 40 miles of Jackson County.

In Jackson, Southeastern Business College provides training in specialized fields for both traditional and non-traditional students.

The University of Rio Grande is located in Gallia County, just three miles from Jackson County. Ohio University in Athens is close by, as is Shawnee State University in Portsmouth. The Ohio State University in Columbus is one of the nation’s largest and most prestigious universities while Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia is less than two hours away.
