Apollo

Apollo Career Center celebrates 40 years and the end of a three-year renovation. Apollo’s existing, 117,583-square foot campus was overhauled, with the high school and adult education building size nearly doubled to 224,015 square feet. And that’s just the brick-and-mortar aspect of the school. There were technological enhancements, as well, from computer-assisted tools to virtual reality learning platforms such as zSpace, which some staff are using to enhance health and science classwork. “We wanted it to be a showplace for the community,” said superintendent Judy Wells. Beyond the eye-pleasing aesthetics, Wells said the renovations will better position Apollo’s graduates for today’s jobs. “Take any employment sector of 40 years ago, and it’s either disappeared or completely reinvented itself,” Wells said. “For us to be able to produce the type of employee that’s needed for all of our industry sectors, we had to reinvent ourselves, too.” Apollo’s expansion comes at a promising time for vocational education, which is getting renewed attention after years of being seen as second rate to a college degree. President Barack Obama has called for more career training at the high school and college levels. Ohio state lawmakers approved legislation in 2014 expanding career and technical education into the seventh and eighth grades. For more information visit http://www.apollocareercenter.com/

Rhodes State College
Understanding the needs of those we serve

At Rhodes State College, we recognize being a good community partner starts with understanding the needs of those we serve. We take pride in helping bridge the gap between students looking for an education and employers searching for qualified talent. Yet, while the jobs of tomorrow demand both high skill and in-depth knowledge, the cost of many post-secondary institutions has made it harder for students to afford a quality education. Rhodes State’s Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees provide the solution.

Rhodes State offers the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees for two years of credit toward a bachelor’s degree—with guaranteed transferability to Ohio’s public universities, and most private institutions. Rhodes State works with partners locally and across the state to build transfer articulation agreements, allowing students a smooth transition to the next educational step. And, best of all, students are able to receive a quality two-year education at a fraction of the cost of a traditional four-year institution.

The Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees at Rhodes State provide a perfect option for students to begin their bachelor’s degree close to home and at a quality institution, all while saving money on tuition, fees, room and board. Being able to deliver a high quality education, without the worry of undue student debt, makes our faculty and staff proud to be a part of the Lima/Allen County community.

Rhodes State takes pride in our community by helping students get the knowledge they need to succeed. That’s what makes Rhodes State the #1 Choice!
