Multigenerations

Our community has an abundant variety of small businesses, many of which are multi-generational. It is important to us as a Chamber to salute the movers and shakers, the risk-takers and the entrepreneurs who think outside of the box. Not only have these entrepreneurs taken a risk, but they also chose to invest in the Lima/Allen County community. The previous careers of these entrepreneurs are varied and unique, but one thing they have in common is a commitment to their hometown.

Linda Hampshire, owner of Jean & Lily’s Fashion Boutique was previously a teacher in the community. After retirement, she decided to follow her dreams and open Jean & Lily’s Boutique.

Entrepreneurial spirit runs in the family; Hampshire’s daughter, Natasha Hampshire-Mears, opened a local spa with a partner. Hampshire-Mears and Shelley Ferguson previously traveled the world working in luxurious spas on cruise ships and decided it was time to lay down some roots. They came back to Lima/Allen County and opened Perennial Glow Spa. Jean & Lily’s Fashion Boutique and Perennial Glow Spa held their grand openings at the same time.

Although Hampshire did not give her business to her daughter, as is common in many multi-generation businesses, she gave her the motivation and desire to found her own business. Both businesses have had an impact on the community by investing and enhancing the quality of life of Lima/Allen County.
