Leadership

At Allen Lima Leadership (ALL), we frequently hear about and experience the value of a dollar spent locally, how it turns over and multiplies to fuel a local economy. The same principle holds true with Allen Lima Leadership. ALL deals in a special economy, with a special currency. Our economy is people, and our currency is capacity.

Our mission is clear: ALL develops adult and youth leaders for the benefit of our community. Our vision drives us, and is a pledge to Lima and Allen County: to be the premiere organization the community seeks to strengthen and broaden the local leadership base.

We connect people to each other and their greater community. We increase capacity of individuals to grow in their own work and to be a resource in their community. ALL is a resource to nonprofit, government and community organizations making positive change here. Our programs include the Signature Course, Allen Lima Youth Leadership, ALL Love Luggage and ALL Teddy Bear Fund.

Come be a part of this, taking an original investment and turning it over for good. It’s a profound ripple effect. Learn more at www.allenlimaleadership.com. 2016 Young Leader of the Year Award Recipient

The Demand
In a community, traditions are those common threads that its members share that pull them together. They are a source of pride. With the simple mission of providing a free teddy bear for sick or injured children being treated in our area hospitals, the Teddy Bear Fund has been a tradition in the community since the late 1940s. Although a small gesture, these teddy bears help to provide comfort and security to the children who receive them and provide a bridge for trust between those children and the doctors and nurses that are trying to provide the treatment the child needs.

The Task
The Teddy Bear Fund raises funds throughout the year to purchase teddy bears that are stored and distributed to the hospitals. Doctors, nurses and other hospital staff give the free bear to children in their care. A little more than 10,000 bears are given out each year.

The Team
The Teddy Bear Fund was entrusted to the Allen Lima Leadership class of 2005 and renamed ALL Teddy Bear Fund, Inc. The board is entirely made up of volunteers who donate their time and efforts to continuing this community tradition. The board collaborates to organize fundraising efforts, create public awareness, maintain the legal status of the entity and – the best part – purchase teddy bears.

The Benefit
The organization is simple and the reward is simple. By participating in the ALL Teddy Bear Fund, you are helping comfort sick or injured kids in a painful, scary situation. Who wouldn’t want to do that if they had the chance?
