800 Acres of Scenic Parks

Within a 10-mile radius is the Miami County Park District that includes four natural and scenic reserves totaling 800 acres. The nearby Miami County Parks provide the chance to hike, watch wildlife or just look at the scenery. Miami County is blessed with a Park District whose mission is to acquire, preserve and suitably develop lands having outstanding natural features. Two of the nearest reserves are highlighted here. Garbry Big Woods

A 272-acre woodland with an all-weather, seven-mile, handicapped accessible boardwalk trail displaying the undisturbed plant life. Fishing pond, winter cross-country skiing, reservable picnic shelters and picnic areas with grills and an information center.

Stillwater Prairie Reserve
St. Rt. 185 west of Piqua • 937-667-1086
The 254-acre reserve reflects the native Ohio prairie crossed with 1,600 feet of recycled plastic boardwalk. Woodlands, rolling hills, “tame” meadows, two miles of Stillwater River frontage with fern covered cliffs, two manmade fishing ponds, two acre wetland site with observation platform, diverse wildlife, marshy habitats, shrublands and picnic areas with grills are featured in the prairie.
