The Streetsboro Parks and Recreation Department provides a variety of recreational activities for people of all ages. There are youth and adult sports programs, music lessons, dance lessons, Teen Nights, Concerts in the park, Holiday Lighting on the corners of Rt. 14 and Rt. 43 and many more. The department's goal is to anticipate and prepare for present and future needs, as well as provide opportunities for community involvement.
Nobody enjoys the great outdoors like an Ohioan. Streetsboro residents have plenty of outdoor options throughout the year to spend time enjoying nature. Camp-Hi Canoe Livery in Hiram offers canoe rental for trips on the upper stretches of the Cuyahoga River with pick-up and put-in included. The Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park in Nelson Township has 167 acres of dramatic cliffs. Hikers will enjoy three miles of trails and unusual rock formations including Devil's Icebox, Old Maid's Kitchen and Indian Pass. A picnicking area is provided.
The Hale Farm & Village in Bath allows visitors to step back in time and experience the lifestyle of an 1848 Western Reserve Township. Lake Farmpark in Kirtland has 235 acres of fields and forest with horse-drawn wagon and sleigh rides, 50 breeds of livestock, orchards and gardens. The Cleveland Botanical Gardens cover 10 acres and include Japanese and children's gardens. Information is provided on horticulture and floral design. Portage Lakes State Park in Akron is a scenic state park providing camping, boating, fishing, hunting, swimming, picnicking and five hiking trails.
The F.A. Seiberling Naturealm in Akron is a 100-acre center that is home to an arboretum featuring a collection of more than 300 varieties of trees and shrubs. Holden Arboretum at Kirtland is the nation's largest arboretum with 3,100 acres of horticultural collections, display gardens and natural trails.
Tinker's Creek State Park in Streetsboro is a 786-acre park offering fishing, swimming on a relaxing beach, picnicking and three 2.5-mile hiking trails.
Boston Mills/Brandywine Ski Resorts in Peninsula, is nestled next to the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area on 79 acres. Complete with ski slopes, lifts, instruction and equipment rentals. Summer home to Boston Mill ArtFest.
Carriage Trade Farm in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park has autumn hayrides complete with a bonfire and marshmallows, romantic horse-drawn carriage tours that include a gourmet picnic at Brandywine Falls; and cappuccino, hot chocolate and sweets during winter sleigh rides.
West Branch State Park in Ravenna lies on 8,000 acres of woodlands that include camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing, hunting, boating, and 12 hiking trails. two-acre, two-story atrium Rain Forest that is home to 600 animals and 10,000 plants, has a tropical rainstorm blowing through the exhibit every 12 minutes.
