Stillwater Performing Arts

Home to a vibrant music scene, Stillwater has been called “Little Austin” and the “Red Dirt Nashville.” Numerous musicians started their careers in Stillwater before becoming national stars: Garth Brooks, The Great Divide, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Stoney LaRue and Jason Boland among others.


Rising stars No Justice, The Red Dirt Rangers, Van Marsalis, Jason Savory, Clint Osmus and the legendary Bob Childers call the city home.

The Tumbleweed Ballroom was one of five venues nominated for the Dancehall of the Year award at the 2005 Academy of Country Music awards.

Adjacent to the OSU campus, Washington Street is also known as the “Strip.” Well-known for its entertainment options, the strip has more than 15 nightclubs featuring original music and plenty of fun.

Theatre and dance enthusiasts will find several theatres and performing arts centers in the Stillwater area. The city’s Multi-Art Center is the largest community art center in the state offering classes, exhibits and workshops for all ages year-round.


The Stillwater High School Performing Arts Center built in 2003 has a 1,200-seat auditorium, a black box theatre, and state-of-the-art sound system.

Oklahoma State University’s theatre and music department provides live music and theatre performances for students, residents and visitors. The Town and Gown Community Theatre offers a full production season. The Seretean Center and the Stillwater Community Center also have a variety of theatrical and musical performances offered throughout the year.
