Hermiston sits at the distinct high desert crossroads of Hwy I-84 & I-82 and Hwy 395 going directly through the middle of town. We are known as an intermodal transportation system that stimulates our local economy; the transportation hub includes the Union Pacific Railroad and the Columbia River. The turn-around for products being transported to and from Seattle, Portland, Spokane, Boise, Bend and places in between make it ideal for local carriers. Major companies such as Walmart Distribution Center, Union Pacific Railroad, UPS and FedX have located here because of the easy access to this system.
Today Hermiston Oregon attracts a diverse group of newcomers, including young professionals, growing families and energetic baby boomers, all seeking that ideal location: “Where Life is Sweet.”
Hermiston was incorporated in 1907 and in 1908 the Chamber was formed as the “Commercial Club” of Hermiston and in 1971 was formally incorporated at the Greater Hermiston Chamber of Commerce.
Moving into 2019-2020, the Chamber will be working on relocating to a new facility that will house the Chamber offices and meeting space. The goal is to build a place for our community with the capacity to host workshops focusing on business and industry needs, such as workforce development, the promotion of member business and organizations as well as an inviting visitor and welcome center.
