Parks & Recreation

The DuBois area is located in the center of many national state and local parks, which provide endless opportunities for outdoor leisure. To the north is the Allegheny National Forest, a 500,000-acre recreation paradise. To the west, the Cook Forest State Park is known for its old growth white pines and hemlocks. Traveling eastward, Parker Dam State Park offers lakeside cabins, and SB Elliott State Park has miles of hiking trails. Other state parks include Bendigo State Park in Elk County, Clear Creek State Park in Jefferson County, Elk State Park in Elk County.

Many smaller retreats are maintained by each county, and are perfect for swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, and any other activity imaginable. Curwensville Lake Recreation Area in Clearfield County features a beach, boat launch and athletic fields, Sandy Township Recreational Park provides athletic fields and the DuBois Soccer Association proudly sports twelve acres to host additional passive and active recreations.

For those who like to enjoy nature as seen from the links, there are a number of top-rated golf courses in the area. The DuBois Country Club. and Beechwoods Golf Course are open to the public for wonderful 18-hole play. Also, Treasure Lake resort has two PGA rated public courses.
